Matcha is much more than just a tasty and trendy tea; it embodies the soul of zen tea cultures and has significant health advantages if consumed regularly.

The Green Treasure from Japan

What is Matcha?

It is a powdered green tea that was originally produced in Japan during the 1100s.

It quickly became a key component of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

The tea leaves are shade-grown and after being dried get ground into a fine green powder. Matcha is famous for its rich antioxidant contents.

It also has a higher caffeine level compared to regular green tea, but usually contains less caffeine than a cup of coffee.

Two grades of Matcha

Ceremonial grade matcha is vivid green and tastes well-balanced earthy and nutty. It’s great for making lattes and can also be whisked into hot water to prepare green tea.

Culinary grade matcha, is cheaper priced but tastes more intense and often bitter and is best used for baking & cooking.
